Heat coloring Timascus (titanium Damascus) isn’t just a finish—it’s a molecular transformation. Using a precision torch, we apply controlled heat to the polished surface of each lanyard bead. This process grows a transparent oxide layer on the titanium. The thickness of this layer determines the color through light interference, creating an iridescent spectrum without any dyes.
Colors Follow the Pattern
The real magic happens in the reaction. The different alloys within the Timascus laminate respond to heat at slightly different rates. This causes the vibrant blues, purples, golds, and teals to trace and accentuate the swirling Damascus pattern beneath. No two pieces color identically, making each pendant a unique wearable map of temperature and time.
